Prime Minister Najib Mikati has received Wednesday the former attorney general of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon Judge Daniel Bellemare in a farewell visit. Discussions focused on the STL process.
He then received the follow-up committee of the "Bkerke Meeting" that includes MPs Boutros Harb, Georges Adwan, Alain Aoun, Sami Gemayel and former Minister Youssef Saadeh.
The committee said in a statement that "the discussions focused on the issue of parliamentary elections, based on the principles and concerns expressed by the national "Bkerke Meeting" and linked to the need for an electoral law that provides a true representation and respects the principle of equity.
"The members of the committee were well aware of the efforts of the PM Mikati with other Lebanese parties to reach a conventional formula of the electoral law," the statement added.
A delegation of the Central Committee of the "Tachnag" Party also visited Mr. Mikati.
MP Hagop Pakradounian said after the meeting that "this visit aims to reaffirm the Tachnag party constants on the overall situation and problems on the local scene." "This requires to resort to dialogue and to avoid the tense political discourse and engagement," he said.
Prime Minister Mikati has also discussed with the new board of the Order of the press their requests and the current situation.
The President of the Socio-Economic Council Roger Nasnas visited PM Mikati to provide details regarding the Euro-Mediterranean Conference to be held late January in Rabat.
